After shaking the foundations of German-language Electrorock music with their debut album and rightfully earning their entry into the German album charts, OST+FRONT are now following up with an EP full of harsh hits … among them a stylish cover version of the title track by Medieval high-flyers Saltatio Mortis and remixes by PANKOW, RABIA SORDA and LORD OF THE LOST!The shooting stars of “Neue Deutsche Härte” (which is best translated with “hard German-languageRock music”) return with a new collection of full-frontal attacks on what lies beneath the surfaceof the Western world’s illusion of an ideal world. On “Bitte schlag’ mich” (Please beat me), the Berlin-based band continues to hit it where it hurts with a storm front of guitars, a voice that would give the God of thunder himself a run for his money and a massive mix of juicy Metal-riffs and thudding electronics, enhanced by catchy and groovy German New Wave influences.OST+FRONT never provoke just for provocation’s sake and instead opt for approaching their volatile subject matters with a cynical approach that is infused with a lot of black humor. The title track, for instance, tackles the vile subject of domestic violence with a highly creative approach thateffectively unmasks evil sporting a jester’s smirk.The EP also contains the rare and sought-after club hit “Silikon”, an orchestral reinvention of the classic “Denkelied”, 4 remixes of the title song by, among others, Pankow, Lord of the Lost and Rabia Sorda, plus a version of the track that was re-recorded by Medieval-hit-wonder Saltatio Mortis, who single-handedly turn “Bitte schlag’ mich” into an anthem with high sing-along-factor.The collection of songs is topped-off with a massive homage to grandmaster Falco whose post-humous charts hit “Out of the Dark” is turned into the sort of emotional steamroller that we all knew had always slumbered under its radio-compatible shell.OST+FRONT are delivering an EP that is as juicy as a bloody steak – a perfect appetizer for theirupcoming album “Olympia”, scheduled for next year.
